19th MOCOW INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL FAIR (MIOF)

The 19th Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF), a key B2B event for specialists of the optical industry in Russia, was held September 13 through 15 in Crocus Expo IEC.

Large distributors of the leading world brands of medical optics and specialized equipment exhibited at the autumn edition of MIOF 2016: 89 companies from 12 regions of Russia (Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, the Vladimir, Volgograd, Vologda, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, Sverdlovsk and Yaroslavl regions, Krasnodar Krai, the republics of Crimea and Mari El) and foreign countries (Belarus, Italy and China).

Visitors, representatives of wholesale and retail companies, ophthalmologists and businessmen, saw not only products and services offered by top players of the optical market (Marcolin-Rus, Optic Días, Inveco, Avvita, Megalopolis, Markisa Project, New Optica and many others), but got acquainted with MIOF debutants’ (Pervoye Atelie Yuvelirnykh Oprav, Opt Fabruk, Panfundus, Picasso Group, Vega Optika, Zvezda Vostoka and RUSPRODIZAYN) activity.

The number of specialists – representatives of wholesale and retail companies, owners of optical products trading grounds, ophthalmologists who attended the 19th Moscow International Optical Fair made more than 3800 people thus the number of attendees increased by 31% compared to September 2015 edition.

The Official opening ceremony of the 19th Moscow International Optical Fair took place September 13 at 12:00 p.m. in hall 15 of the third pavilion. The ceremony was presented by Serguei Egorychev, Director Department of special exhibition projects. Participants of the ceremony:

  • Konstantin Oleynik, Megapolis company executive;
  • Alexander Shlayfert, Head of optical division of KruponHandelsGmbH;
  • Elena Titova, CEO Optic Style company (Vladimir), the holder of the National award of the optical industry Golden Lorgnette (2015, 2016);
  • Elena Yakutina, Director General Market Assistant Group welcomed the exhibitors and guests of the ceremony.

All speakers noted that the trade fair provided the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the sector, the show continues to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed.

The contest for the National Award in the optical industry for achievements in the field of new technologies promotion, sight protection and professional service of the population Golden Lorgnette was traditionally held within the frames of the 19th Moscow International Optical Fair. The National Award in the optical industry is one of the most prestigious awards at the market of optical goods and services, equipment and materials, glass and contact lenses, sun glasses and frames, distributors and retail chains and also optician’s of Russia. The award is designed to recognize the most important individuals and companies in the optical industry for providing excellent service, fostering innovation and spreading awareness of the optical industry. Participants of the contest promote their corporate image, products and services as well as create greater market awareness in the market segment throughout Russia. The Awarding Ceremony for the winners will take place February 2017 at the next edition of the trade fair.

MIOF organizers traditionally prepared a highly topical business program during which experts had an opportunity to discover sale increase technologies, explore the latest innovations in production of eyeglass and contact lenses, to gain new knowledge of sight correction.

MIOF comprised an exhibition of innovation projects and technologies presented by the leading companies in this sector, a special platform for the equipment demonstration, and a conference for discussion of such issues as economic efficiency of the companies during the crisis, the companies’ technologies and solutions aimed at efficient use of resources. Participation in the trade fair was a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and to close a deal on-site.

MIOF is the main platform in Russia for the work of the optical market professionals – for the conclusion of contracts, establishment of new contacts, and exchange of experience. Presentations of new collections of frames, corrective and contact lenses, equipment for specialized retail chains and salons take place at the fair.

The 20th edition of the Moscow International Optical Fair will be held February 15 through 17, 2017.
