25th MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL FAIR (MIOF)

The anniversary 25th MIOF exhibition, the leading branch event which twice a year incorporates on the same platform more than 3 000 specialists from the sphere of medical optics and ophthalmology, was accommodated in Crocus Expo September 10 through 12, 2019. The organizer of the project is Crocus Expo, an expo venue which ranks at the top among exhibition centers of Russia and Eastern Europe.

Today MIOF is the largest national business and educational platform, the meeting place for distributors of global brands with representatives of wholesale and retail trade. Due to a large number of professionals among visitors the participation in the trade fair opens direct access to new clients: specialists exchange experience and strengthen business contacts, foreign companies find reliable partners for their work in Russia on a long term basis.

The exposition covered all segments of the optical industry: eyeglasses fashion (frames and sunglasses), eyeglass and contact lenses, care means for medical optics, various related accessories, diagnostic equipment, software for salons of optics, trade equipment for opticians, specialized optical editions and many other things.

Participants of the Gala opening ceremony:

  • • Pavel Tsvetkov, owner and designer of the trademark KWIAT (Bulgaria);
  • • Elena Yakutina, Director General of the Market Assistant Group company.

In the opening speech Elena Yakutina, the partner of the fair and Market Assistant Group CEO, told about events of the business program. She noted that new companies would provide lectures and training courses within the Business and Educational Forum. She added that it was an innovation because they introduced new topics together with arrival to the fair.

She also announced holding of the Kids Vision, the 3rd Scientific and Practical Conference on Children's Ophthalmology and Optometry within the frames of the September MIOF edition in 2019. The conference is intended on the implementation of the following tasks: distribution of information on protection of children's vision, preventive measures and treatment of ophthalmologic diseases; rendering of charitable help to children from underprovided families which need a complicated eye treatment. And finally Elena Yakutina reminded about national tender on participation in the contest for the Golden Lorgnette, the Russian National Award in the optical industry for achievements in the field of new technologies promotion, sight protection and professional service of the population, which nominations will be supplemented with optometrist nomination.

Exhibitors

The largest top companies of the Russian optical market including Avvita, Inveco Holding, Marcolin Rus, Megalopolis, New Optics, Optic Dias and others were among participants of the MIOF 2019. September. There were also debutants of this year: SkyOptix Laboratory, OCULISTICA, Podstavka.net, GRESSO (USA), KWIAT (Bulgaria), N49° by Be-Spec (Canada).

Calendar of events

The program of the Business and Educational Forum, featuring events of various formats (seminars, training courses, presentations and etc), formed an integral part of the MIOF exposition.

The 3rd Scientific and Practical Conference on Children's Ophthalmology and Optometry Kids Vision was held September 10 and 11 within the frames of the trade fair business program.

The myopia rate remains high in the majority of countries of the world. The main reasons for this are a lack of physical exercise and the prolonged use of digital devices among young consumers. Several reports of the the Kids Vision conference were devoted to the problem.

A charity event for aniridia patients and albinos children with participation of the MOK-BBGR and the Galereya Ochkov companies took place within the frames of the Conference. New sponsors joined them in 2019: an agreement on rendering services in selection of frames and to the order of lenses for albinos was concluded with Optical Net, on distribution of cases for frames with Eyetech Optical and on handover of frames with Armati group.

A number of lectures within the frames of the Educational Forum covered certain issues related to technical methods of work with famous brands. The speakers told about innovative and exclusive optical products from the company Rodenstock, spoke on the topic of solutions from Nikon when you have a complex spectacle correction and others.

Traditionally in September the MIOF exhibition management and the Market Assistant Group announced the beginning of preparation to the Golden Lorgnette contest. The organizers of the contest told about terms and regulations of the event and reviewed successful cases from the project participants. National tender on participation in the contest would take place for the sixth time and would be culminated by the awarding ceremony February 11, in the first day of the 2020 trade fair. The applications acceptance started with the opening of the MIOF 2019. September. Russian companies, joint ventures and representative offices of foreign companies registered and operating in the territory of Russia and working at the market of optical goods and services participating in the exhibition are eligible for the contest.

Moscow International Optical Fair comprises an exhibition of innovation projects and technologies presented by the leading companies in this sector, a special platform for the equipment demonstration, and a conference for discussion of such issues as economic efficiency of the companies during the crisis, the companies’ technologies and solutions aimed at efficient use of resources.
