The 23rd Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF), a key business expo event for all specialists in the field of optometry, medical production and also fashionable collections of eye glasses and frames, was held September 11 through 13 in Crocus Expo. The organizer of the project is Crocus Expo which ranks at the top and holds leading positions among expo venues of Russia and Eastern Europe.

The MIOF platform project traditionally unites the leading distributors of world brands of medical optics, representatives of chain stores distributing optical products (wholesale and retail), experts in the field of optometry, ophthalmologists, experts in the field of protection of sight and representatives of specialized mass media.

Exhibitors

110 companies from 8 countries of the world (Belarus, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Canada, China, the Netherlands, Russia) and 16 regions of the Russian Federation (Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, the Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, Samara, Sverdlovsk, Tomsk, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Rostov, Tambov, Yaroslavl regions, Primorsky Krai and the Republic of Crimea) displayed their collections at the September edition of the trade fair.

Opening ceremony

Official opening ceremony of the 23rd Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF) took place September 11. Bruno Palmegiani, designer and art director of Avanglion and Sover (Einar Group Ltd., Hungary); Alessandra Salimbene, Charismatica Ltd. Director and creator of Police brand, President Expophoto Cultural Association; and Elena Yakutina, Director General Market Assistant Group, made welcome speeches at the ceremony.

Business program

MIOF 2018. Autumn program featured more than 40 events of various formats: lectures, seminars, presentations and many other things.

The 2nd scientific and practical conference on children's ophthalmology and optometry Kids Vision became the highlight of the MIOF business program. The conference covered issues related to implementation of the following tasks: distribution of information on protection of children's vision, preventive measures and treatment of ophthalmologic diseases; rendering of charitable help to children from underprovided families which needed a complicated eye treatment.

The fund raising was also intended for the opening of kids eye care offices, for charitable contribution to funds for support of children with ophthalmologic diseases, for creation and promotion of the National program of sight protection (children). A number of companies made their practical contribution to the program intended for children suffering aniridia (a rare genetic pathology): constantly checked aniridia patients, provided lenses for special eyeglasses production; provided frames and did surgeries to aniridia patients.

Speakers presented to attention of the audience the latest practices in the sphere of sales and management of optical business at the business and educational forum. Besides September 11 the lecturer from Italy Alessandra Salimbene, Charismatica Ltd. Director, Expophoto Cultural Association President, gave two lectures on digital marketing in optics.

The attendees had an opportunity to get acquainted with the practice of difficult medical lenses selection, new products in the Russian market and the latest fashionable trends in the segment of frames and sunglasses.

Press conference on fashionable tendencies in design of frames and sunglasses was held September 12. Olga Mosheeva, Director Optical MAGAZINE PH, made the opening speech at the event. Bruno Palmegiani, designer and art director of Avanglion and Sover (Einar Group Ltd., Hungary), and Franco Antonov, CEO of Luxary Trends, made presentations of collections at the press conference. Franco Antonov presented also Catherine De Medici, Pugnale, Philipp Plein, LaMarca and Amen brands from the company’s portfolio.

Participation in the trade fair provided a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. Moscow International Optical Fair is an event for professionals, experts and producers, one of the most important platforms of our country for demonstration of the latest achievements. The exhibition served as an indicator of the branch state and tendencies of its further development, allowed to present advanced technologies, equipment and materials, to establish new and to strengthen already existing business relations.

The 24th Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF) will be accommodated in Crocus Expo February 12 through 14, 2019.
