The 4th International specialized exhibition Import Substitution was held by the regulation of the Government of the Russian Federation (№719-r dated 21.04.2018), September 11 through 13, 2018 in Crocus Expo.

Goal of the project

The main goal of the event is rendering comprehensive assistance to domestic manufacturers in development and sales of goods and services, their promotion in the internal and world markets, search of business partners, establishment of new sales channels. The project demonstrates the development of the capacity of domestic enterprises and organizations, the results of their activities in various industries of economy and international promotion. The exhibition contributes to the development and strengthening of cross-industry ties between companies, to improvement of quality of products, decrease in dependence of the Russian economy on import goods and services. The Government of the Russian Federation made an instruction for the Import Substitution exhibition to be granted the status of an annual event.

Official Opening Ceremony

Alexey Uchenov, Director of the Department of Strategic Development and Corporate Policy of the Ministry for Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation, Denis Kravchenko, Deputy in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development, and Entrepreneurship, Maria Sapuntsova, Deputy Head Roskachestvo, Alexey Shchedrov, Head of Regional Administration of Innovative and Industrial Policy of the Lipetsk region, Igor Hranovsky, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Ingushetia, and other officials spoke at the Official opening ceremony of the project.

Exhibitors

More than 340 companies from Russia (Moscow and the Moscow region, Yekaterinburg, the Vologda, Kursk, Lipetsk, Voronezh, Ryazan, Samara, Omsk, Irkutsk regions, the Republics of Ingushetia, Mari El, Udmurtia, Crimea, etc.) displayed their achievements and high-quality goods practically for all industries on the exhibit space comprising more than 8 000 sq m. Visitors – more than 15 000 people, – could estimate personally successful examples – export, in the long term – activity of national manufacturers.

Large manufacturing enterprises: Rostec (this year the corporation has united about 20 companies of the sphere of modern technological developments), AVTOROS, engineering plant named after Kalinin, Gazpromneft – Lubricants, Lintech and others exhibited at the project. Successful product samples and services of regional producers were exhibited at collective stands among which a large-scale exposition of the Moscow Export Center Made in Moscow (22 capital brands). Great interest was attracted by works on development of the Russian software at the collective stand of the Association of Software Developers (ARPP) RusSoft uniting more than 20 companies. Besides, developments of higher education institutions (Moscow Automobile and Road Construction State Technical University, RUDN University, the Moscow Polytechnic University) and research institutes have been presented at the exhibition.

Import Substitution Forum

The Import Substitution project is a full-fledged discussion platform for dialogue between representatives of state authorities with entrepreneurs. The 2nd National Forum Import Substitution became the headliner of the business program. The work of the forum was aimed at coordination of activities and effective dialogue of federal executive bodies, executive bodies of territorial subjects of the Russian Federation and business community for the purpose of development of offers for acceleration of implementation of industry import substitution programs.

During the program of the Import Substitution forum the representatives of the Government of the Russian Federation, heads of regions, state corporations and organizations shared their experience on achieving concrete results in the field of import substitution. Attendees discussed issues of regional industrial policy and the development of import substitution in individual regions, the support of the authorities’ policy of import substitution, scientific achievements and developments, contributing to the development of production within the frames of plenary sessions and round tables.

Summing up

The exposition became a platform of review of opportunities and achievements in the field of competitive import substitution of goods and services both due to expansion and adjustment of own domestic production and to reorientation to new foreign suppliers and partners, the latest technologies, perspective developments and investment projects characterizing the scientific, technical and production capacity of Russia.

The exhibitors in their feedback have noted the efficiency of work at the exhibition, and many of them not only have made up the decision on participation in the next edition of the event but have also announced the intended increase in the exhibit space of their stands.

The Import Substitution project contributes to the development and strengthening of cross-industry communications of entities and decrease in dependence of the Russian economy on imported goods and services.

The 5th International specialized exhibition Import Substitution will be hosted in Crocus Expo in 2019.
