MOSCOW OFF-ROAD SHOW 2017

August 24-27, Crocus Expo

This year the Moscow Off-road Show project admired by all fans of off-road equipment, crossovers and all-terrain vehicles for the first time was held in a new format – Convent and Test-Drive Weekend. More than 60 000 people explored the unique developments, unusual, functional tuning solutions and special versions of demanded models in the course of 4 days.

Main participants:

  • car makers (including Jaguar Land Rover Russia, Commercial vehicles – GAZ Group, ISUZU RUS, Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant);
  • national developers of all-terrain vehicles (AVTOROS, Vympel, Vezdehod TD, Mehanika and others);
  • producers of equipment and relevant goods.

The exposition incorporated car makers, branch experts and fans of powerful, dynamic vehicles from around the world. Professionals, enthusiasts and all friends of four wheeling were attracted to the fairgrounds. Moscow Off-road Show 2017 presented a wide range of various vehicles: SUVs and crossovers from global car makers, various types of all-terrain vehicles (including track-type), ATVs, snowmobiles, bigfoot trucks, towers and other machinery used both for active outing and for industrial tasks, special equipment, appropriate goods for extreme tourism. This is where OHVs, UTVs and ATVs get into gear to attract everybody who loves 4×4 sports – from mild to extreme.

Ulianovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) displayed UAZ Hunter special edition devoted to the 45th anniversary of the legendary ATV. Distinctive feature of the anniversary model is “the ceremonial uniform” in three-colored design. The car roof is painted in glossy white color which perfectly goes with the noble gray-green body color and gives to the vehicle the modern and at the same time solemn appearance. It reminds of its military past when UAZ-469 in traditional “military” execution left the production line of the enterprise made in dark green or gray colors.

The visitors were attracted to GAZ Group stand by Sobol 4x4 off-roaders which, and, Sobol Car&Van Expedition in particular, participated in the Silk Way Rally 2016 from Moscow to Beijing.

The show also featured the latest developments of the tuning industry, impressive design solutions and ideas for creation of exclusive car appearance to all admirers of an individual auto styling, effective cars, motor vehicles and fans of high speed. 4x4 Tundra and LINE-X engineering centres so as others presented their exclusive products and services within the project.

Jaguar Land Rover Russia presented a compact, functional Discovery Sport and the novelty of 2017 – a new Discovery of the 5th generation (full-size 7-seats three-row SUV that brings new levels of capability and versatility to the Discovery family).

AVTOROS displayed a national development – Shaman – a new family of all-terrain vehicles on extra low-pressure tires which is adapted for Russian off-road and inclement climate conditions. This kind of equipment is classified as snow and swamp-going vehicles and can be used under any extreme conditions. While 8-wheel configuration of Shaman and extra low-pressure tires allow overcoming various obstacles and go with ease both cross-country and on public roads.

The novelty of 2017 – Shatun ATV from Mehanika company – was also presented at the show.  The Shatun amphibious ATV is capable of moving in almost any conditions. Its advantages include a turning frame and huge 1.75 m wheels. The ATV weighs 2 tons and can carry up to 1 ton of cargo. Shatun's maximum speed is 45 km/h on land and 5 km/h on the water.

Guests of Moscow Off-Road Show had an opportunity to see the Best Off-road Vehicle of the Year Award Winner’s Podium – the best automobiles from the catalogue of 97 cars which are officially sold in the Russian market as of the beginning of May, 2017. They had been chosen in 7 nominations by the Club 4x4 magazine together with enthusiasts and fans of all wheel drive vehicles and professionals – recognized car experts whose materials are available in printing and Internet mass-media, television, radio and to which choice everybody trust. Affordability of the car became one of the main criteria in selection of nominees. Cooperation of the Best Off-road Vehicle of the Year Award and Crocus Expo provided for the third year an opportunity to plunge into the atmosphere of a real holiday.

12 all-wheels drive vehicleswere displayed at the Winner’s Podium in the specially allotted sector at the Moscow Off-road Show. The winners of the contest accordingly to Professional and Extended Committee choice:

  • Full-size Off-road Vehicle – Jeep Wrangler / Toyota Land Cruiser 200;
  • Middle-size Off-road Vehicle – Mitsubishi Pajero Sport / Toyota Land Cruiser Prado;
  • Compact Off-road Vehicle – Suzuki Jimny / Chevrolet Niva;
  • Full-size Crossover – Jaguar F-Pace / Volvo XC90;
  • Middle-size Crossover – Jeep Cherokee / Subaru Forester;
  • Compact Crossover – Volkswagen Tiguan / Renault Duster;
  • Pickup – Toyota Hilux.

Convent and Test-Drive Weekend Moscow Off-road Show has presented to the admirers of powerful off-road vehicles four bright days filled with interesting events, master classes, consultations from leading experts, acquaintance with impressive engineering solutions, quizzes with prizes and gifts, meetings with like-minded fans.

The next edition of Convent and Test-Drive Weekend will run in Crocus Expo in 2019.
