12 days of the most long-awaited premieres, magnificent cars, charming models, fascinating competitions, unexpected awards and "stellar" meetings within the frames of the leading automotive event of the year – the Moscow International Automobile Salon 2014!

This year the exposition for the first time presented an integrated thematic area. The overall exhibit space exceeded 120 000 sq m. The number of presented brands increased up to 52. The following brands displayed their products in eight halls of the fairgrounds: Acura, Alfa Romeo, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Brabus, Brilliance, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chery, Chrysler, Citroën, Ducati, FAW, Fiat, Ford, Geely, Great Wall, Haima, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, LADA, Land Rover, Lexus, Lifan, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, SEAT, Škoda, smart, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and Bridgestone (sponsor of ÌIÀS 2014). PGO Automobiles, HAVAL, DFM, Changan, Datsun and HTM (Hawtai Motor) are newcomers of the Moscow Autosalon.

Crocus Expo IEC opened its doors for mass media members August 27. Exhibitors were given 10 minutes for a press conference and thus the format of the event allowed presenting the full range of celebrities of the modern automotive industry. Bright and long-awaited, magnificent and ready to withstand any tests – they attracted cameras and attention of the best experts of motor vehicles. Presentations of the companies began very early in the morning. Mercedes-Benz unveiled 3 world debuts at their stand at 7:00 a.m.: magnificent S 65 AMG, the all-new CLS 63 AMG 4MATIC coupe and Mercedes S 600 Guard, a large state carriage with factory-integrated special protection. The speedy GLA 45 AMG MATIC was for the first time presented to the Russian audience. Despite the early time of the press conferences nobody could miss the opportunity to attend the event! Haima stand impressed by a number of astonishing shows at 06:35 p.m. They presented Haima S5 SUV which production started last year and it had never been unveiled before in Russia. More than 11 hours of premieres and press conferences – an impressive marathon of achievements and a professional judgment through a windshield of a car of your dream.  Enthusiastic looks and feeling of a genuine miracle overwhelmed mass media members whom general public envied that day.

All in all MIAS 2014 participants unveiled 14 world (Audi, Brabus, Datsun, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Land Rover, Peugeot, Renault and Toyota), 10 European (Acura, Audi, Chevrolet, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Volkswagen) and 73 Russian premieres (Audi, Bentley, BMW, Brilliance, Cadillac, Changan, Chery, Chevrolet, Citroën, FAW, Fiat, Ford, Geely, Haima, HAVAL, Honda, HTM, Hyundai, Infinity, Jeep, Kia, LADA, Lexus, Lifan, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen) as well as 21 concept cars (Acura, Chevrolet, Citroen, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, LandRover, MINI, Mitsubishi, Opel, Peugeot, Škoda, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota).

A contest where prominent journalists estimated participants of the show in five nominations was held August 27 within the frames of Autosalon. Alexander Pikulenko, Alexander Dobin, Alexey Slashchev, Evgeny Shipilov, Igor Morzharetto, Pavel Fedorov, Sergey Aslanyan and Yury Geyko comprised a distinguished panel of judges. After careful examination and evaluation the experts granted the winners well-deserved awards: The Most Original Presentation (Renault), The Best Stand Design (Land Rover), The Most Unexpected Premiere (Chevrolet Niva concept of new generation), Corporate Style (Mitsubishi), The Best Speaker (Christina Dubinina, Director of LADA Vesta project). Maria Dolgova from the Opel stand was elected the most beautiful and charming girl of MIAS 2014 according to Playboy magazine editorial staff.

The Official Gala Opening Ceremony devoted to the opening of the Moscow International Automobile Salon 2014 and the 10th anniversary exhibition of automotive industry InterAuto took place August 28 in the lobby of the third pavilion Crocus Expo IEC. Speakers at the ceremony:

  • Mr. Yves van der Straaten, OICA Secretary General;
  • Dr. Frank Schauff, Chief Executive Officer of the Association of European Businesses;
  • Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee;
  • Bo Inge Andersson, JSC AVTOVAZ President;
  • Alexander Bortsov, First Deputy Director Crocus Group.

As its popularity and success rate had grown over the last MIAS’2014 had developed to incorporate more than just an exhibition. These special events serve to attract leading exhibitors and visitors and allows all participants the chance to broaden their knowledge and of course their sales potential. The specialists of the branch August 28 had an opportunity to attend a topical and dense business program including the International Assembly of Automotive Industry (MAA-2014) incorporating the 2nd International Forum of Local Suppliers of Automotive Components and program for auto dealers Forum Autosphere: sales, service, innovation. The round table Expertise and Innovations in Road Safety was held the same day. The organizer of the event was Road Traffic Safety non-governmental organization together with the Russian Department of Road Traffic Safety and the Russian Association of Motor Insurers (RAMI). Heads of federal and regional ministries and departments, representatives of the Russian Automobile Federation (RAF) and the World Health Organization (WHO), vehicles and automotive components’ manufactures and also public organizations and associations and mass media were invited to the event.

Starting from August 29 Moscow Autosalon opened its doors for the general public. A large-scale and impressive entertainment program had been prepared by exhibitors for attendees: brand quests, sure-fire lotteries, creative photoboxes, laser shows, autograph sessions with sport "stars", fashion parades, beatbox lessons, enchanting Go-Go dances, unforgettable emotions from flight in wind tunnel, track for electric cars from Kommersant FM, captivating test drives on Jeep, HAVAL, Land Rover and LADA cars, fascinating quests and these are only a few examples of adventures specially organized for Autosalon attendees (about 1 100 000 people!). Many celebrities were visible in the crowd and during Business Day one could meet well known people in the automotive world.

An unforgettable motor show – the final of Eastern European championship of stuntriding was held September 5 within the frames of the Moscow International Automobile Salon 2014 at the outdoor area opposite from the first pavilion of the fairgrounds. Stuntriding is a trick riding on a motorcycle. Breath fades and heart misses a bit when you watch these tricks. Performances of sportsmen were just magnificent!

Education Day was held September 5. Representatives of the leading global car makers (BMW, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Renault, Volvo, Volkswagen, KAMAZ and many others) told school children and students about companies’ activity, about products, about sector-specific training and employment opportunities, about working conditions and prospects of professional career.

Exclusive samples of civil and military motor vehicles of the last century from Motors of War museum and Motorworld by Vyacheslav Sheyanov were of special attention at visitors. The exposition uniting more than thirty civil and military motorcycles of so-called Golden Age even received The Golden Ticket – a special MIAS 2014 prize for impressiveness and uniqueness. The exposition was devoted to the forthcoming celebration of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Moscow International Automobile Salon 2014 was a complete business success and many car makers will return here and will continue to place Russia high on the list of targeted territories. Autosalon is not only a global review of the best novelties, but the demonstration of the latest trends in the industry, benchmarks towards which aim all world brands. The army of car fans is increasing in Russia attracting more and more people into fascinating automotive world.
