MOSCOW HOBBY EXPO

In the middle of April the first pavilion of Crocus Expo IEC became a point of attraction for racing drivers, pilots, seamen, magicians, soldiers, princesses, designers and collectors – the fifth anniversary International Moscow Hobby Expo exhibition was opened!

Project admirers were looking forward to April and their day came at last! More than 50 companies from all corners of Russia and Ukraine, Belarus, Holland, Japan, Germany, Israel, USA, Italy, China, Czech Republic and other countries of the world gathered to present their novelties, to exchange experience, to share secrets with beginners, and also "to charge" them with love to diverting hobby.

The following sections were presented to the audience in 2014:

  • railroad modeling (all sizes!);
  • ship modeling;
  • aircraft modeling;
  • vehicles modeling;
  • war gaming;
  • radio controlled models of tanks;
  • tools, devices and facilities, equipment, materials for modeling;
  • electric vehicles and electric skates;
  • accessories for models and dioramas;
  • architectural models;
  • table games;
  • literature, manuals, master classes, films, competitions of models and many other things!

Indoor Grand Prix of Russia in classes of radio-controlled electric SUVs (the largest race in the CIS countries!) was held within the frames of Moscow Hobby Expo 2014 and became the highlight of the show. More than 200 sportsmen from 7 countries participated in the competition. Races took place daily from 09:00 a.m. to 06:00 p.m. The event was attended by stars of world level from Russia, Japan, Austria and Germany. Arrival of the "firm" mechanic of the Yokomo Japan team – Naoya Kitagawa which helped all (!) pilots on Yokomo became one of the high points for many. Moreover the organizers of the competitions draw a lottery with models, engines, accumulators and other valuable prizes.

The exposition featured international cars and avia modeling competitions right on site in the exhibition hall, demonstration of ship models in a specially equipped pool, aircraft tests (planes, helicopters, slowflyers) on a pad, tank iBattle, meetings with authoritative collectors, master classes, seminars and special shows in various thematic sections of modelism, presentations of exhibitors, amazing tournaments and draws with valuable prizes.

The Federation of Avia Modeling Sports of Russia organized and held master classes, demonstrations, competitions and show performances.

The first large shipmodeling sports competitions of 2014 sports season were held within the frames of the show: All-Russian Crocus Centre Cup and Championship of Russia on Shipmodeling. The best shipmodelers of Russia participated in the championship. Following the results of the championship the national team of Russia was defined for participation in international competitions in France and in the World Cup in Bulgaria.

Tank Club Moscow creative association impressed again the visitors of the Moscow Hobby Expo 2014 by tank battles with participation of radio controlled tanks on a specially arranged ground. Club members held master classes, seminars, competitions and talks with military hardware fans. Patriotic atmosphere, military films and tank battles formed an integrated part of the Moscow exposition. A real battle tank was exhibited at the club stand. The tank was provided by Kubinka Military and Historical Museum of Armored Vehicles and Armament.

A unique interactive mini-city from MaketoManiya company with moving cars, dioramas, operating and stand models and also systems of intellectual illumination was arranged by the entrance to the pavilion.

A model of a building site with operational radio-controlled large-scale models of dump trucks, excavators and bulldozers was arranged near the megalopolis. There was even a security post, trailers for workers’ accommodation, an office building and natural soil was used for the machinery work.

Moscow Hobby Expo is a project of own exhibition program of the fairgrounds. It was held with official support of the Federation of Aircraft Modeling Sport of Russia, the Federation of Auto Modeling Sport of Russia and the Federation of Ship Modeling Sport of Russia.

It should be noted that Moscow Hobby Expo had a serious social orientation: the exhibition promoted revival of forgotten in the modern Russia sphere of children's leisure. It is known that today many don't even guess about availability of a huge variety of hobby groups and societies which assist in intelligence development, formation of creative skills and younger generation socialization. Numerous technical and creative clubs for children and adults act as partners of the project. Due to Moscow Hobby Expo they create greater market awareness.
