Garden Build – building a garden!

International specialized exhibition for landscape architecture, gardening, territory improvement, design of open spaces and goods for horticulture Garden Build, the most significant event for professionals of landscape industry, was closed April 4, 2014 in Crocus Expo IEC.

The organizers of the event were Crocus Expo IEC in cooperation with the Association of Landscape Architects of Russia (ALAROS) and GreenExpo Ltd. exhibition operator. The exhibition featured a wide range of products and services to shape and grow Russia's gardens & play areas as well as urban and commercial spaces.

The leading branch entities rendered official support of Garden Build trade fair. In particular Desiree Martinez Uriarte, President of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA); Taisija Volftrub, President of the Association of Landscape Architects of Russia; Ilya Mochalov, General Secretary of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA), Vice-president of the Association of Landscape Architects of Russia; Alexander Demidov, Director of the Central Botanical Garden and Oleg Korotkov, Director of the Volgograd Botanical Garden, spoke at the official opening ceremony of the event.

About 150 companies from Russia (Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Siberia and Ural) and many foreign countries (Germany, the USA, England, Poland, China and others) gathered in Hall 9 of the second pavilion Crocus Expo IEC. The overall exhibit space of the new perspective project comprised 6000 sq m.

Producers and buyers of construction materials and equipment, engineering systems, machinery and technologies for territory improvement and landscape design of open spaces, experts in the field of territories improvement, landscape architecture and space planning, production and delivery of materials and components, design studios, architectural bureaus and salons, associations and unions, and also producers of children's playgrounds, outdoor and countryside furniture, small architectural forms, equipment and tools, planting stock, pools and ponds, baths and saunas presented their latest developments within the frames of Garden Build.

As its popularity and success rate had grown over the last years the trade fair developed to incorporate more than just an exhibition. These special events served to attract leading exhibitors and visitors and allowed all participants the chance to broaden their knowledge and of course their sales potential. The calendar of events featured conferences, seminars and master classes of known national and foreign experts of landscaping which united all types of activity of gardeners and greenery specialists. Seminars on the following subjects were held within the frames of Garden Build: court organization, playgrounds and sports complexes, city parks, "turnkey" construction, street furniture, landscape architecture and design of public and private territories, structures and small architectural forms in landscape, equipment and technologies, arrangement of green spaces and planting material.

Landscape forum City Park became the key event of Garden Build exhibition. The forum was a meeting place for authoritative professionals on improvement of urban areas, parks and gardens. The following issues were discussed at the forum: The City and the Nature – Who Will Win?, Especially Protected Natural Territories, Historical Heritage – To Hew Trees Down or Not?

The following seminars were held within the frames of the exhibition: Modern Specialized Equipment for Urban and Private Greenery, Eco Protector Day, Ideology of Historical Monuments Preservation of “Green Architecture” in Germany, Types of “Green Walls” and their Composite Solution, Environment Aesthetics. Postindustrial Urban Spaces and etc.

During four days experts in floristic and design competed in skill at the floristic competition DESIGN PLUSTouch to Perfection, dated to the 110th anniversary of the play The Cherry Orchard by A.P. Chekhov production. The contestants had a remarkable opportunity not only to increase professional skills but also to show magnificent works which undoubtedly made a contribution to floristic promoting as one of methods of an interior decoration.

The Garden Build exhibition confirmed its high status among specialized events in the field of landscape architecture, design and floristic. The project provided to experts a lot of important information, helped in adjustment of long-term business relations and presented unforgettable feelings of a colourful spring holiday!

The organizers note that received results surpassed all expectations: many objectives were realized, prospects of further project development were defined, ways of interaction between all participants of the exhibition were optimized.
