Post show report of the 39th Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF)

The 39th Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF) was held September 23 through 25, 2026 at Crocus Expo. The exhibition brought together distributors of well-known brands of eyewear, ophthalmic and optometric equipment, software solutions developers and manufacturers of accessories.

Over the course of three days, industry experts got acquainted with new collections of glasses and frames, modern solutions for vision correction and monitoring, equipment for diagnostics and optical workshops, and software products.

The exhibition’s display covered virtually all the main areas of the modern optical market —from eyewear fashion and accessories to diagnostic equipment, contact correction, and digital solutions.

The innovative breakthrough of the event was the ColorMatic® Dark photochromic lenses from Rodenstock, which were presented by Avvita: the lenses darken inside the car during daylight hours, even behind the windshield, and are more active in hot weather. One pair of new Rodenstock lenses adapts to lighting conditions and can be used anywhere — indoors, outdoors, and while driving. Avvita also presented the Rolles Junior collection of children’s medical frames, designed for schoolchildren aged 10–14. The line uses hypoallergenic materials, durable metal and plastic, and the models are designed, among other things, to accommodate spectacle lenses for myopia treatment.

MOREL RUS presented medical frames from the ÖRIGIN collection, created using wood and titanium. One of the features of the line is the signature Omicron screw-free and soldering-free joint and thus ensures flexibility and ergonomics in the design. The collection echoes the MOREL iconic models of the past, in which traditional materials and technologies are combined with modern design solutions.

Alcon organized a lecture series at its stand. The lecture were dedicated to the development of the contact lens correction market. One of the key topics was the presentation of PRECISION7 contact lenses — the first and only weekly disposable contact lenses in the world. The new product uses serafilcon A, a modern silicone hydrogel material that balances breathability, and the ACTIV‑FLO moisture retention technology, which ensures comfort throughout the entire wear period.

Several global brands were displayed at the Herinckx Trade Solutions stand. The company brought in the new season collections by RETROSUPERFUTURE, Maison Margiela (MM6), Marni, L.G.R., REVO and CAPOTE. An important premiere was the introduction of the British brand Cutler and Gross into the Herinckx Trade Solutions portfolio. The brand specializes in optical and sunglasses collections and uses design that blends classic elements with a bold character. Herinckx Trade Solutions also presented at MIOF a separate line that was created by Cutler and Gross in collaboration with the English jewelry house THE GREAT FROG. Another significant addition to the Herinckx Trade Solutions portfolio is the MM6 Maison Margiela line designed for everyday use. The new FW 2026 collection features pure minimalism and the philosophy of the famous Margiela House, adopted in daily use.

New Line presented its new collection, Grand Café Milano by EnniMarco, at its stand – the embodiment of Italian style and impeccable taste in every frame.

The company Seasons with the Seasons brand presented its view of the combination of optics, design, and handcrafted work. The collection features frames with original decor made of natural leather and stones, and the models come with accessories made from the same materials.

The Ronda brand introduced eyeglass chains, holders and cases, as well as solutions for salon design and merchandising. For the first time at the autumn MIOF the brand presented expanded collections of jewelry, including men’s accessories, and solutions that make it possible to develop the accessories category as an independent part of the optics assortment.

Pioneer Optic presented the Etnia Barcelona autumn–winter 2026 collection at the exhibition. The main focus of the collection was colour: rich shades, contrasting combinations and various materials used in men’s, women’s and unisex models. The collection features frames made of natural Mazzucchelli acetate complemented by HD mineral lenses. Visitors could also explore the current collections of the LOOL brand at the Pioneer Optic stand.

One of the notable themes of the autumn exhibition was digital tools that are changing the way customers interact with optical salons.

Try Glasses introduced an AI stylist, which analyzes the geometry of the face and creates a personalized map of proportions, after which it suggests suitable frame shapes – from oval and square to cat‑eye and aviator. The technology is already available to opticians and brands using the platform. Visitors could also test contactless eyeglass fitting at the company’s stand. The new functionality allows visitors to control the catalog on the TV panel using gestures: horizontal and vertical hand movements are used to view models without touching the screen. The solution is also designed for storefronts and interactive areas in optical stores.

The MIOF Fashion Showcase offered the guests the boldest forms and design solutions. Optica Euro, Optikaline, Rearden, Dolomiti, Medstar, Vision Lux, OPTIC-MARKET+, New Line, Burma, Escont-Optica, LUXIMPORT and HTS Rus displayed their trend models within the frames of the Fashion Showcase.

Yulia Karbovskaya, a collector from St. Petersburg, brought optical items reflecting the history of spectacles to the autumn edition of MIOF. She presented them at a special MIOF platform – the Eyeglasses Museum. The Museum’s photo zone attracted great interest among exhibition visitors: here, using historical accessories, one could try on the looks of the 19th–20th centuries and immerse in the atmosphere of fashion from past eras.

The MIOF exposition was accompanied by the Business and Educational Forum that took place on September 22 and 24. The program brought together professional events dedicated to the prevention and treatment of eye diseases, modern research and developments in the field of vision, spectacle and contact lens correction, as well as practical issues related to running an optical business. The forum covered topics such as sales and interaction with customers, the development of optical salons, the vocational training for specialists, and the introduction of new technologies.

The forum’s program covered the medical, technological and business aspects of the optical industry simultaneously — from diagnostics and vision correction to working with product ranges, clients, and developing specialized areas in salons.

Within the frames of the business program AVEA presented the results of a study on MyoSlow, individual defocus lenses for myopia treatment, and a new addition to the progressive lens family — the Optimize AI Superior intelligent progressive lenses.

The SkyOptix laboratory presented comprehensive solutions for the optical business. The company’s experts examined the technological development of complex contact correction and practical business cases related to the implementation of orthokeratology, the development of scleral lenses, the automation of calculations, and the vocational training of specialists.

One of the key events of the forum was the Scientific conference Kids vision. It focused on issues related to the protection and prevention of vision impairment in children, modern approaches to diagnosis and correction, as well as the development of practices for myopia treatment.

The Optical Association, chaired by Vyacheslav Valynkin, joined the exhibition as an industry partner. In this way, the association’s leadership outlined its position regarding MIOF, which it considers the main optical event in Russia. The industry organization, as part of the partnership with the exhibition, is implementing a number of important tasks aimed at MIOF supporting and organizing.

The Association’s stand worked at the MIOF exhibition, and Vyacheslav Valynkin took part in the exhibition’s business forum.

MIOF once again brought together companies operating in different segments of the optical market and allowed participants to present new products to the professional audience.

Throughout the exhibition, specialists could compare the offers of manufacturers and distributors, get acquainted with new brands and collections, discuss cooperation terms and obtain practical information about modern technologies.

The 40th Anniversary Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF) will be held February 16 through 18 at Crocus Expo.
