The International exhibition for leading manufacturers, suppliers and experts in the Horeca and Retail industry Food Expo post show report

The International exhibition for leading manufacturers, suppliers and experts in the Horeca and Retail industry FOOD EXPO was held March 19 through 21, 2024 at Crocus Expo. The exhibition brought together 161 exhibitors and more than 270 speakers - retail experts and representatives of the HoReCa industry, as well as business owners: manufacturers, farmers, winemakers. The exhibition was visited by 16 825 industry professionals in the course of three days. More than 300 hours of business program were held on 10 forum sites.

The Retail Expo platform combined the solutions and experience of retail and wholesale players. In total, 37 lectures at which the speakers gave instructions on how to build a successful store in modern conditions, attract and retain customers, work with assortment, logistics and regulators took place within the frames of the program. A distinctive feature of the platform was the focus on the experience of small business owners.

An important milestone was the largest by the number of participants wine exhibition in Russia Wine Expo. It consisted of discussions and lectures about wine, more than 12 vertical tastings and master classes from winemakers and wine trading companies. The eighth All-Russian Cavist Competition, organized by the Association of Cavists of Russia, was held during the exhibition. 229 applications from 58 cities of Russia entered the competition, and the winners received the status of cavists of the year.

The Cheese Expo zone, prepared by the authors of the industry's most famous cheese events, focused on the quality of the domestic cheese required by restaurateurs. Local cheeses of more than 190 manufacturers were presented in tastings and master classes. The first all-Russian cheese contest CHEESE EXPO 2024 made it possible to choose the 4 best cheeses in the country.

Horeca Expo, an exposition of local, federal, international suppliers and distributors of food products, as well as equipment for restaurants and cafes, solutions for baking and confectionery areas, became an important part of the exhibition. In addition to trends and ready-made solutions for business, the participants discussed the problems of labeling and certification, taxation systems, legal issues, as well as the problems of hiring and retaining personnel.

The seventh All-Russian Open Culinary Championship Chef a la Russe was held with the support of the wholesale operator METRO Cash & Carry and the National Association of Culinary Specialists of Russia within the frames of Foo Expo. The championship is distinguished by a high level of refereeing: the jury includes foreign and Russian judges of the international category, members of the World Association of Chef Societes (WACS/WorldChefs). The championship is the Russian version of the famous culinary event Bocuse d'Or and is highly appreciated for the status and experience gained by young chefs.

Solutions for small and medium-sized businesses presented at Food Expo will not only allow companies to implement environmentally friendly solutions but will also help to attract traffic.

The wholesale operator METRO and the Russian manufacturer and the operator of reverse vending machines and equipment for collecting recyclable materials Ecoplatform signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of social and environmental responsibility.

The next edition of Food Expo will be held March 18 through 20, 2025.
