Ministry of Economic Development prepares electric vehicle support program.
The working group under the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation developed the presentation City Highly Automated Electric Transport, which lists the first parameters of the concept of the development of electric transport in the country. According to the presentation as a whole it is planned to spend 418 billion rubles on the program until 2030. In the very near future - until 2024 - 31.3 billion rubles will be allocated from the federal budget for these purposes.
A national consortium will be created to implement the program, headed by KamAZ, the only Russian automaker to create a model of the Kama-1 passenger electric car at the moment. Its launch to commercial production is scheduled for 2024.
Besides Moscow and St. Petersburg the resort cities of Sochi and Sevastopol will become the pilot regions for the implementation of the program, as well as Kaliningrad and Kazan. Free parking and zero transport tax will be introduced in the cities alongside with the development of the infrastructure.
The program also provides for a restriction of imports, an increase in waste collection and a requirement for mandatory localization of batteries and engines.
It is anticipated that the share of electric vehicles in the market will increase from 0.1% to 15% by 2030 due to the program. The number of charging stations will increase respectively - by 2030 their number will increase to 150 thousand.
