18th MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL FAIR (MIOF)

The 18th Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF), the leading B2B project of the branch and the main business platform for the specialists of Russian and foreign companies, was held February 16 through 19 in the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. The trade fair provided the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the sector, the show continued to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed.

106 companies from 12 regions of Russia (Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, the Republics of Bashkortostan, Crimea, Mari El; the Vladimir, Volgograd, Vologda, Kaluga, Novosibirsk, Rostov, Sverdlovsk and Yaroslavl regions) and 4 foreign countries (Belarus, Italy, China and Japan) participated in the project. Such famous players of the optical market as Marcolin-Rus, Luxottica, Seiko, Optic Dias, Inveco, Avvita, Kering group and Hoya were among the exhibitors. NPP LINKO, Aleroptic and others companies were debutants of the February edition. Totally more than 320 brands were presented on the platform!

Official Opening Ceremony of the 18th Moscow International Optical Fair took place February 16 at 12:00 p.m. The opening ceremony was presented by Serguei Egorychev, Director of department of Special Exhibition Projects of Crocus Expo IEC. Participants of the ceremony:

  • Konstantin Oleinik, head of Megapolis company;
  • Dmitry Mityukov, head of Abium company;
  • Nikolai Ivanidze, Director of InterOPTIC Service company;
  • Elena Yakutina, Director General of Market Assistant Group.

All speakers noted that the market of optical branch develops despite difficulties of today's hard time, and production doesn't cease to enjoy popularity. They also expressed their gratitude to the organizers of the fair and noted that Crocus Expo IEC has proved as a perfectly facilitated platform for running of events of different scale and profile.

The Awarding Ceremony for the winners of the first Russian National Award in the optical industry Golden Lorgnette for achievements in the field of new technologies promotion, sight protection and professional service of the population took place February 16. The National Award in the optical industry is one of the most prestigious awards at the market of optical goods and services, equipment and materials, glass and contact lenses, sun glasses and frames, distributors and retail chains and also optician’s of Russia. The award is designed to recognize the most important  individuals and companies in the optical industry for providing excellent service, fostering innovation and spreading awareness of the optical industry. Participants of the contest promote their corporate image, products and services as well as create greater market awareness in the market segment throughout Russia.

Winners of the Golden Lorgnette National Award:

  • Debut of the Year – Hoya Rus company;
  • Advertizing Campaign of the Year – Poor Sight – Check It! (Victoria retail chain from Kirov);
  • Marketing Project of the Year (wholesale companies) – Webinary 2015, Avvita company;
  • Marketing Project of the Year (retail companies) – Promotion of medical optics in the context of socially oriented marketing (Sverdlovsk regional medical college);
  • The Chain of the Year – Eyekraft company on the federal level and Opticstyle (Vladimir city) on the local level;
  • Salon of the Year – Tamara salon (Novosibirsk);
  • Private Trademark – Rusomania, Scolani company;
  • Innovation of the Year – diplomas were granted to Valeriy Grishchenko (Optic Center company) and to Nikolay Nikolaev (ITigris company) for the program of the personnel motivation;
  • The Best MIOF-2016 Stand – Grand Vision company;
  • The Personage of the Year – Anatoly Balayan, founder of the Essilor – LUIS-Optica company.

MIOF organizers traditionally prepared a highly topical business program during which experts had an opportunity to discover sale increase technologies, explore the latest innovations in production of eyeglass and contact lenses, to gain new knowledge of sight correction. A variety of professional forums, contests and workshops became another centre of attraction for key audience and an interesting source of publications in specialized and business press. A tight program of exhibition-related events enabled to obtain comprehensive information on how to organize efficient and profitable business in line with all the requirements of the modern economy.

Participation in the trade fair provided a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists.
