16th MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL OPTICAL FAIR (MIOF)

February 17-20, 2015

The 16th Moscow International Optical Fair (MIOF), the leading B2B project of the branch and the main business platform for the specialists of large Russian and foreign companies, was held in February 2015 in the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. MIOF is the main platform in Russia for the work of the optical market professionals – for the conclusion of contracts, establishment of new contacts, and exchange of experience. Presentations of new collections of frames, corrective and contact lenses, equipment for specialized retail chains and salons took place at the fair.

The trade fair provided the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the sector, the show continued to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and was a promotional opportunity not to be missed.

120 companies from Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sevastopol, Simferopol, Republic of Bashkortostan, Vladimir, Vologda, Volgograd, Moscow, Novosibirsk and Rostov areas), the USA, Turkey and Belarus including key players of the optical branch market participated in the trade fair.

Gala Opening Ceremony of the 16th Moscow International Optical Fair took place February 17 at 12:00 p.m. Sergey Egorychev (Crocus Expo IEC), Victoria Chizhova (Sover-M), Paolo Cannicci (Sover), Alessandro Magnabosco (Luxottica), Dmitry Mityukov (Abium) and Elena Yakutina (Market Assistant Group) welcomed the exhibitors and guests of the ceremony.

Honourable guests wished everybody to be more flexible and incessantly search and find mutually advantageous solutions of problems during this difficult for business period. After all only by common efforts of wholesalers and representatives of retail trade it is possible to hold the branch from economic shocks.

Thematic sections of the exposition and business program of MIOF traditionally covered full range of optical production and most actual for the industry technological processes.

MIOF comprised an exhibition of innovation projects and technologies presented by the leading companies in this sector, a special platform for the equipment demonstration, and a conference for discussion of such issues as economic efficiency of the companies during the crisis, the companies’ technologies and solutions aimed at efficient use of resources. Participation in the trade fair became a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and to close a deal on-site.

As its popularity and success rate has grown over the last years MIOF has developed to incorporate more than just an exhibition. These special events serve to attract leading exhibitors and visitors and allow all participants the chance to broaden their knowledge and of course their sales potential. The calendar of events features various seminars, master classes, presentations and conferences held by Rodenstock, Pixelset, МОК-BBGR, Hoya Lens Russia, Nikon, Optiklass, ITigris, European Academy of Orthokeratology, Academy of Medical Optics and Optometry, International school of optical business and VEKO magazine.

The Awarding Ceremony for the winners of the first Russian Award in the optical industry Golden Lorgnette for achievements in the field of new technologies promotion, sight protection and professional service of the population took place February 17. The prize was instituted with official support of the Ministry for Healthcare of the Russian Federation.

The founders received applications for participation in the competition for the Award from all regions of Russia. The prize and the title The Debut of the Year went to Luxottika RUS. The Best Advertizing Campaign of the Year according to the panel of judges had been held by Lux Optika optical salon (Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky) and Avvita wholesale company.

The Marketing Project of the Year prize went to Sight Day 2014 – a conjoint project of Krugozor, Alkon, MedStar, Optimashservice, Ursapharm, Vista Optical, Otisipharm, Bioclinic and OK Vision companies. The project of opticians’ chain Cronos (Nizhny Novgorod) was granted the title The Marketing Project of the Year – Retail Company for their project Gorky in Glasses. Innovation of the Year prize was granted to Optica Centr (Kemerovo).

Regional Chain of the Year became Opticstyle (Vladimir). The National Trading Company title was granted to MEDSATAR Production and Research Company and Salon of the Year title was granted to Almaz Optic centre. The winner in nomination The Best MIOF-2015 Stand became Inveco company.

The sponsors and partners of Golden Lorgnette Award were Stormov company, Huvitz, Luxsottika RUS, Optic Market+ and Anastasia&Olga Kalashnikovy studio.
