3rd International specialized exhibition-forum Road

The 3rd International specialized exhibition-forum Road, the main event of the year devoted to the Russian road infrastructure development, was held October 15 through 18, 2012 in Crocus Expo IEC.

The organizers of the exhibition aimed to bring together on the same platform all key national and worldwide players and to offer an excellent platform to encourage networking among scientists and engineers in order to accelerate the development and research in this field as well as implementing new technologies, the newest equipment, materials and components in the road industry.

The exhibition ran under support of the Ministry for Transport of the Russian Federation, the Federal Road Agency of the Ministry for Transport of the Russian Federation (RosAvtoDor), State Transport Leasing Company (OAO GTLK), the Russian Association of Design and Exploratory Organizations (RODOS) and the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction Institute (MADI).

This year the exposition covering 12 500 sq m attracted 180 leading representatives of the branch from 32 regions of Russia and 12 foreign countries (Belarus, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Finland, France and the Czech Republic).

The exhibition was segmented according to thematic sections.

• Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
• Bridges and tunnels (design, construction and operation)
• Innovations
• Traffic safety (service area at roadside)
• Road building machinery. Leasing

The dense and topical business program featured conferences, profile seminars, round tables and plenary sessions. The events covered the most demanding and strategically important issues related to the Russian road system. Experts had an opportunity to exchange experience of innovations introduction, consider specific proposals on increase of traffic safety and quality of provided highways, to discuss in details technical aspects of construction and maintenance of motorways.

Gala Opening Ceremony of the exhibition-forum Road 2012 took place October 15. Arcady Zlotnikov, First Deputy Director Crocus Expo IEC, opened up the ceremony and welcomed heartily the audience and presented high ranking guests of the exhibition venue.

Participants of the ceremony:

• Grigory Raporta, State Secretary of Belorussia;
• Oleg Belozerov, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation;
• Anatoly Chabunin, Head of Rosavtodor Federal Road Agency (FDA) of the Ministry for Transport of the Russian Federation;
• Anatoly Nasonov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow region Government;
• Alexander Zazhigalkin, Deputy Head of RosStandart;
• Enrico Vink, Managing Director of International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC).

The high-ranking visitors have underlined the importance of the exhibition and forum, expressed their gratitude to the organizers for excellent work and congratulated everybody with the coming Road Builders Day.

Enrico Vink joined also the greetings and noted that road builders of the whole world face identical problems and should incorporate efforts trying to find solutions. Mr. Vink expressed his confidence that innovations and new technologies, together with the FIDIC experience will contribute to the development of the Russian road infrastructure.

All speakers wished to exhibitors and visitors of the exhibition productive work, conclusion of new contracts and useful meetings. Under sounds of fanfares guests of honor cut the red ribbon and made a tour at the exposition after the opening ceremony.

Press conference for mass media was held in Conference hall 2 two hours after the opening ceremony. The journalists had an opportunity to ask the organizers of the project and high-ranking guests any questions. Anatoly Chabunin, Head of Rosavtodor Federal Road Agency (FDA) of the Ministry for Transport of the Russian Federation, answered questions and welcomed the press to this very important occasion. He offered his opinions on the current state of the industry, commented on future prospects.

The press conference started with the Awarding Ceremony for the winners of Children’s Pictures contest Roads of Children’s Dream.

The importance of the exhibition was emphasized by closed events devoted to the 20th anniversary of the International Road Union – the 3rd Convention of Road Builders of the CIS countries and Gala Concert devoted to the Road Builders Day which took place October 16 in the Crocus City Hall. National show stars participated in the concert: Ivan Urgant, Olga Shelest, Tamara Gverdtsiteli, Vladimir Kuzmin, Vasily Gerello, Olga Kormukhina, groups Pelageya, Lyube, Terem Kvartet, Gorod 312 and Bravo.
